Parenting with Naomi Aldort – The child is right

http://www.NaomiAldort.com
Every parent would happily give up ever scolding, punishing or threatening if she only knew how to ensure that her toddler/child/teen would thrive and act responsibly without such painful measures. The book, Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves by Naomi Aldort is the answer to this universal wish. It is not about gentle ways to control a child, but about a way of being and of understanding a child so she/he can be the best of herself, not because she fears you, but because she wants to, of her own free will.

There is always a good reason why children behave the way they do. I am still learning to look far beyond the behavior. We are so conditioned to react to a problem making it hard to problem solve.

I’ve read the book, and many others that follow the same principles and I can tell you it’s only been a very short while and my 16 month old has changed dramatically. It could also be the way I see things have changed, but either way, there is much less problems, more love and understanding.

Nice to see/hear other nationalities also talking about the inadequecy of scolding children as a behavioral regulation or intervention. In Denmark we have Erik Sigsgaard and many others on that issue.
    Nice!
Also, look for Maria Aarts and family (Holland) angle on adult-child relations…

Am anxious for The Work for Parents. THANK YOU for ROCRO & introducing The Work of Byron Katie specific to parenting. Seeing The Work done through other people in your book I can mitigate for myself the authoritarian “Do it because I said so” attitude. Working it through the daily situations is challenging, and seeing your video helps get me back into the peaceful headspace where I want to be, the one that’s most loving to myself and my child.

  14. Dear Naomi,

    Dear Naomi,

that’s it! Just by answering needs, by understanding and with awareness it DOES work this way.

    This is just …
This is just perfect child raising information and instruction. If we all worked with this attitude of ‘there is a good reason for every behavior’ for our children and ourselves it would increase understanding, compassion and greatly improve life on this planet. I will send this to others.

Wonderful Naomi, You show so clearly why looking at children’s outward behaviour and rewarding or punishing it, achieves nothing. Thank you for showing so clearly why we need to get to the needs and feelings underneath. Then the problem is solved and everyone wins… Bravo! Pat, South Africa
