What Items You Will Need For A New Baby

When you bring home your new baby and lay him or her down in the crib, you will always catch yourself standing there, mesmerized and watching your baby sleep. You are going to have many things going through your head at these times and one of those thoughts will most likely be about the things you want to do for your baby. You will want to take the best care you can and making sure that you have the right items to do that is important when it comes down to basic care.

When you begin to purchase items for a new baby, you will do well to remember that you need to first take care of the things you are going to use providing the basic care. You will be assaulted by hundreds of cute little things that will cost you and end up being put away in the toy box later. Make sure you get the things that are for you and your baby’s comfort and needs in the first months of life.

One thing you will most certainly want to spend a bit on is an electric breast pump if you choose to breast feed your baby. This kind of pump works in half the time of manual pumps and will give you the freedom of being able to leave your baby with a sitter while you get out for a much needed break once and awhile. The days of having to stay with your baby at all times because you want to breast feed have long been gone.

Years ago, before a pump for the breasts was ever an option, many women suffered through a condition called mastitis. Breast afflicted with this condition become severely painful due to infected milk glands. If milk isn’t expressed as often as it should be, then mastitis is highly likely to occur. Using a pump will help in keeping this from happening.

Giving your baby a bath is going to be a special time for both of you. You are going to enjoy watching your baby discover water and how fun it is to splash it everywhere. You are going to look forward to bath time as well because a warm bath usually fore goes bed time and quiet time for mom and dad.

Bath time will be much more pleasurable if you make sure that you have everything that you need on hand before starting the water running. The first thing you will need to make sure you get is a bath tub designed for a baby bath. You want a tub that fits easily into your kitchen sink for ease in reaching baby.

Baby bath towels are, of course, an essential part of bath time for your baby. Make sure to have at least two towels ready at bath time so you won’t have to wrap up baby in a wet towel after drying. To keep down chill for baby, always use a fresh and dry towel to wrap up him or her in after you dry off baby’s tender skin.
